My dad is 73 and my mom is 65. My dad has always taken care of their cars, and he still does … mostly. But sometimes he can’t keep up with it and so we have had to step in to make sure he gets the car serviced and inspected regularly. Additionally, my in-laws (dad 92 / mom 75) are having a hard enough time keeping up with (remembering) their meds, much less remembering when and what is due on their one-and-only vehicle.
They need that car! Mom uses it to get them to appointments.

I don’t drive my car very much. How often do I need an oil change?
It’s a fair question, and we hear this all the time. And it is true that if your car, truck, or SUV isn’t racking up the mileage like it used to, your vehicle won’t need as much maintenance as it used to. That said, you don’t want to leave fluids sitting around too long in your car either.
A good rule of thumb is to change it at least once per year, even if it sits a lot. Cars that sit around don’t generate heat like frequently driven cars do. That can lead to moisture forming, and that’s not good.
